How to Set Up a Local Awareness Facebook Ad

If you have a Facebook page but haven’t looked into leveraging Paid Media, then you haven’t taken advantage of Facebook’s robust targeting capabilities. In this post, I’m going to walk you through setting up a Local Awareness campaign to help you reach people near your business.

Step 1: Click on “Create an Ad” and then choose your objective below. In this case, we’re focusing on “Reaching people near your business.”

Step 2: Define your audience by adjusting the radius around your business. On the right side of your screen, you’ll see the potential reach as well as the estimated daily reach for your Facebook advertisement.

Step 3: Once you’ve identified the radius, you’ll need to select your audience demographic. Choose the age range and gender for your potential clients. Then, select the places most likely to reach the right people.

Step 4: This is likely the most important step, especially for the budget conscious. It’s important to set a daily budget based on what you can afford. To stay on the extra safe side, use the drop down and select your LIFETIME BUDGET. This will ensure that your ads will never go past what you’re willing to spend. Then, schedule how long you want your ad to run. You can select the button says run continuously or you can set a start and end time.

Step 5: Select the format of your ad. Do you want a single image, video in your ads or multiple images in one ad? You can do so in this step. Then, you can upload the images you want to use, upload a video or create a slideshow.

Step 6: Your Facebook page copy will pre-populate into the text fields. Make sure to create a description, headline and select where your ad will link to (Facebook page or website URL). You can also select a Call to Action for your ad, (Like Page, Call Now, Get Directions, Learn More or Send Message).

Once you’ve previewed your ad, select the green button that says, “Place Order.” Your ad will now go through Facebook’s approval process.

This was just one of the many advertising options that Facebook offers. If you’re unsure about executing Paid Media on your own, we’re happy to help and can do it for you.
