If you've been following our weekly digital roundup, which is presented by Melissa Lauer every Friday, you may have noticed that Instagram rolled out a new feature allowing users to mute Stories. In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to mute Instagram stories in just two steps.
You may be wondering why you'd ever need to mute someone in your feed. Well, this feature is perfect for those who don't want to see certain types of content from certain individuals. You can always unmute a story later on and I'll walk you through how to do that as well.
The first step is to open Instagram. At the top of your Home feed, you'll notice your friend's icons at the top with a colorful circle around them. Those are Instagram Stories and they stay up for just 24 hours. If you don't want to see certain individuals at the top of your feed, simply press and hold down on their avatar. Then, click on Mute (second option).
After you mute a Story, the circular profile photo will now show up at the very end of the IG Stories feed. From there you can unmute by repeating the steps:
Hold down on the circular avatar and click unmute.
